What does ‘FAS’ mean?

Nov 24, 2011   //   by admin   //    //  Comments Off

‘FAS’ is a Fast-load (and encrypted) AutoLISP file used for customized programs in AutoCAD. First introduced in 1986 in AutoCAD version 2.18, AutoLISP was renamed to VisualLISP in 1997. AutoLISP is a dialect of Lisp programming language built specifically for use with the full version of AutoCAD and its derivatives, which include AutoCAD Map 3D, AutoCAD Architecture and AutoCAD Mechanical. There are thousands of utilities and applications that have been developed using AutoLISP or Visual LISP. AutoLISP is AutoCAD’s primary user customization language and is widely used because it’s proven technology is fast to load and offers a large amount of features and user interaction. Other customization languages used by AutoCAD include VBA, .NET and C++.
