What is PipeNET 2.0?
The PipeFitPro 5.0.9 update features a new version of PipeNET - a customizable componet library system. Use PipeNET to save, insert and share 2D & 3D components in AutoCAD.
PipeNET version 2.0 is 100% compatible with the original version and includes a redesigned interface featuring multiple pages views, open and delete functions, and component highlighting. We’ve also changed the PipeNET toolbar icon, and made it easier to recognise. Below are some frequently asked questions answered.
How to run PipeNET
Open PipeNET using either the 2D or 3D PipeFitPro Toolbar, pull down menu or type the command alias ‘PN’ at the command prompt in AutoCAD.
How to add a detail to PipeNET
In AutoCAD , zoom to the objects you want to save (include any dimensions or notes you may want to display in the icon preview).
Open PipeNET and check settings before double clicking on a blank rectangle:
Make a selection and press Enter. Here we have selected the valve only, as the dimesnions are a useful reference, however not desired when inserting.
Select insertion point and enter a description in the preview dialogue box.
NOTE
- Dimensions can be added for reference, as the image used by PipeNET is a snap shot of the current AutoCAD window, and not the block preview saved with the drawing file.
- Docking the properties on the right in AutoCAD helps to create a less rectangular screen area for the icon preview.
How to set the command alias for PipeNET
Set the command Alias for PipeNET at any time by typing in the Command Alias edit box.
How configure a Look in Path
PipeNET is configured to work from your c drive (the default location C:\PipeFitProV5\User Parts). Other locations can be input and saved using the ‘Edit’ button. If you want to share piping details in your office, create a ‘Library’ folder on a networked drive which everyone can access.
NOTE
- A ‘Look in Paths’ dialogue box will open to allow path customization. Use the ‘Browse’ button to search for a folder on your computer or network drive(s). After selection, press ‘Add’ and ‘OK’.
- The ‘Look in Paths’ configuration is stored in C:\PipeFitProV5\Settings\PipeNET.ini. This file can be copied to other workstations using PipeFitPro if a matching setup is required.
How to insert a detail with PipeNET
Double click on a component or highlight it and select ‘OK’.
NOTE
- By default the ‘Insert’ option is selected each time PipeNET is used. Select ‘Save’ to overwrite an existing component.
- Before adding details to PipeNET, you can use the AutoCAD ‘hide’ command to hide 3D lines and make a clearer icon.
How to Overwrite a detail with PipeNET
When the ‘Save’ option is selected you can Double-click on any existing detail and overwrite it.
How to distribute PipeNET libraries
A PipeNET library contains all the necessary files for any other computer using PipeFitPro. Copy any ‘Look in’ path folder and all it’s contents to a portable device, or use a packaging utility such as WinZip to collect all files. Copy the folder to another computer and configure a Look in Path to view the library.
How to backup PipeNET libraries
A PipeNET library contains all the necessary files for a backup, including any Custom Pipe sizes made in the library. The default PipeNET library in C:\PipeFitProV5\User Parts should be backed up, along with the C:\PipeFitProV5\Setting folder.
How to copy a PipeNET configuration to another computer
The ‘Look in Paths’ configuration is stored in C:\PipeFitProV5\Settings\PipeNET.ini. This file can be copied to other workstations using PipeFitPro if a matching setup is required.
